This athletic filly, Madasahatter (aka Maddie) will start her 2yo racing career in 2021 and looks a really smart, early type. A half-sister to winner Lockdown Dream, and daughter to Group winning sire Mattmu (Indesatchel), she will be trained in Staffordshire by Steph Hollinshead who has shown some excellent results with her horses over the last few years. The breeding suggests a highly capable horse with a rare 20/20 score on the G1 Goldmine Nicking system and a high dosage score with Equiline – indicating above average potential in her racing career.
Maddie is from the first crop of Group 2 Criterium De Maisons-Laffitte winner Mattmu, where he beat French champion 2yo sire Goken. Mattmu was trained by Tim Easterby and competed at the highest level to win the Rockingham Stakes (Listed) and the Group 3 Phoenix Sprint Stakes as well. He was second in both the Duke of York Stakes (G2) and the Chipchase Stakes (G3) and third in the Group 1 Nunthorpe (beating future sires Pearl Secret, Profitable and Music Master) with another third in the G3 Abernant Stakes.
On the dam’s side, Makindi was the daughter of Makbul – a son of Fairy King and a successful sire in his own right. She was placed on the flat before retiring injured. Her breeding career started fairly late and Maddie is her final foal.
Maddie will therefore join us at the stud after what we hope will be a successful career. Shareholders will have a free share to the same value as their shareholding in her first foal as part of this package. All owners will be welcome to visit the stud and trainer at any time
The filly will be leased to the syndicate and therefore there is no purchase price to pay. She is registered in the Great British Bonus meaning enhanced prize money up to £20K per race.
